Reclaiming the Holy Whore
She is Free ~ She is true to herself ~ She voices her truth ~ She is the womb ~ She is Creation
For as long as I remember the word "whore" has always been an offensive and dirty word as well as a word used to describe a woman who engages in sexual intercourse for money. This also came to my mind as I recently witnessed the distorted meaning of the word Whore being used to offend someone.
I personally find it amazing how the origin of words can be mistreated and the meaning of words distorted once we realise that whatever our culture considers as taboo or something to be shameful of, it is better to push into the dark conner, distorting it’s meaning or completely forgetting about it, even if the price of it may cost the understanding of a powerful essential part of ourselves.
The roots of the word “WHORE”:
Hebrew word "hor" = means "a cave", "dark hole"
In the ancient Semitic languages of the Middle East "hor" meant "cave" or "womb." - It is so interesting to reflect that a word used for an organ (hor, womb/uterus) responsible for creating and birthing life on earth, became a word used for a woman who has sex for money.)
Latin: the Spanish word for whore, puta, derives from the Latin term for a well, but the Latin term for grave, literally "a hole in the earth," is puticuli, meaning womb of rebirth.
The Latin term had its root in the Vedic, an early Sanskrit language, where in the word puta is defined as pure and holy.
The cave, the pit, the hole, and the bottomless black lake were metaphors for the Great Goddess.
In the Sumerian language "Hur" is a word of the primordial and sacred womb.
Back in the days an ancient lineage of women were known for being sexually liberated and sovereign women.
These women, priestesses held HOLY titles such as a WHORE, Harlot, Harine, Hathor, Horae and Houri, meaning "THE PURE AND IMMACULATE ONES" - "THE WISDOM KEEPERS"
To be clear the term WHORE does not refer to a prostitute and it is not a word used to offend someone.
WHORE is a title of spiritual sexual power, whispering back to a time where the feminine was revered.
Every woman ready to embody the wisdom and power of her womb, of her sexuality and her power to create is an expression of life, she is creation, she is a whore.
Reclaiming the Holy Whore:
To reclaim the Holy Whore is not only about understanding the meaning of the word itself.
To reclaim the Holy Whore may require healing and awareness on how women see themselves, how women relate to other women, the way men see women and the way men relate to women.
No matter how insulted, distorted and reversed the traditions of the sacred feminine were and how distant we may be from the lineage of our ancestors, to reclaim the Holy Whore is to reclaim the connection with the sacredness of our body, the sacredness and power of the womb, the power of the menstrual blood, the sacredness of self-expression and the sacredness of sexuality.
To reclaim the holy whore is to heal menstrual shame.
It is to pay attention at the depressing and misleading language and images used in the media and in our society to portray sensuality, sexuality, perfect body image, man & woman relationship, sex and more.
The journey:
For me personally this journey involves so much forgiveness and presence so we are able to consciously heal the wounds and scars left behind, to consciously reclaim part of our essence back, to consciously write a new story, to consciously embody every aspect of our nature, every piece of our totality and every part of our essence.
This new story is first re-written in our bodies, in our cells, in our DNA, in the healing of our womb as women or Hara as men, in our heart and from our hearts we bring forth patience, gentleness, compassion and courage to reclaim our life force, our freedom of expression, our creativity, our creative sexual expression, our sovereignty, the power of our womb, the Holy Whore.
To reclaim the Holy Whore is to meet our true, authentic and innocent nature with reverence and devotion to our existence.
Are you ready to write a new story?
With love and devotion to your path,
Petra
